Mountains x MS Shadow Play

I've always wanted to try using a different style of fabric. Something that I don't normally gravitate to, but still appreciate. When I saw the Shadow Play collection several weeks ago, I knew it was time to make that happen. I reached out to Maywood Studio and luckily, they were happy to collaborate!

One of the reasons I chose this fabric collection for my quilt sample is because it offers a wide palette of colors: 168 to be exact. The pattern is great for blenders and solids so I had a lot of color combos in mind. Since I was eager to continue to try something new and different with this project, I chose shades of chartreuse and teal blues.

I spent an appropriate amount of time giving these blenders a little fabric massage, as one does. They have a nice, soft texture with a little sheen on them at certain angles.

As usual, I forgot to take in-progress photos. I can’t help it. It’s so easy to get wonderfully lost in the process. Anyway, I only had a few weeks to finish the quilt so I sent this off to Trace Creek Quilting. They quilted this one up using the modern curves pantograph — one of my faves! It's such a simple, reliable way to add movement to the quilt. A supportive design without being overbearing. I just love how this one came out!:

If you need a head start to plan your colors, here are the fabric requirements for all five sizes! (The twin size is the lengthened version.)
